Financial support schemes expected to open end of July 2023

The Government has announced a new package of financial support for businesses, orchards, and farms affected by the North Island weather events in early 2023. Read the media release on beehive.govt.nz.

It will be available to businesses in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, Hawke's Bay, Tararua, and Wairarapa.

The package includes:

• the North Island Weather Events Loan Guarantee Scheme that will enable commercial lenders to provide loans to highly affected businesses across all sectors with more favourable terms, such as reduced interest rates.
• the North Island Weather Events Primary Producer Finance Scheme that will provide concessionary loans and equity finance to severely impacted, land-based primary sector businesses.

The schemes are expected to open at the end of July 2023.

The Hawke’s Bay Regional Recovery Agency is working with Central Government agencies and industry groups to ensure growers and farmers have the support they need to maximise the assistance that has been made available.
